"I
read The Odyssey and The Idiot after hearing a radio interview with
the author. I don't see any reviews but wanted to recommend this
book.
As a father of three with a business career similar to Mr. Price's,
I really enjoyed this story. This author has a worldview somewhere
between Dennis Miller and John Steinbeck. His rants on popular culture
and other topical subjects are very funny. But the main message
of the book is one we can all use. His appreciation for the blessings
of his family and a rich life is inspiring without being maudlin.
He seems like a guy who you wish was your next door neighbor.
If you have had enough formula books about spies, courtroom dramas
or brilliant forensic pathologists, grab this book for a summer
read."

"Keith Price's experience is essentially autobiographical.
Its stimulus was his first extended vacation alone with his 2 children,
a two week cross country car trip. Keith wrote a summary of the
day's touring experiences, his introspections while driving, the
historical perspective of his formative years, his varied and humorous
experiences as a globe trotting businessman and brief sketches of
a number if unique relatives.
The book is both humorous and insightful. It brings to life the
unique challenges and rewards of rearing a deaf child, who traveled
with him on the trip as a teenager. It explores the paradoxes of
the imprimatur of a Jesuit college education superimposed on a precollege
free spirited home life.
The book is guaranteed to evoke personal comparisons. Readers will
reflect on their own experiences that significantly developed their
personal gestalt. They will review past challenges and assess how
they coped. Through it all, they will chuckle, turn the page and
keep reading".
